Butterflies - our toddler room

Our Butterfly room provides the next step for our children (approx 18 to 30 months) at Safe 'n' Sound. As they are naturally developing their independence, the practitioners nurture the children to support them in developing their skills. 

Exploratory play for toddlers

The Butterfly room has a very cosy home corner and book and sensory area with soft lighting and voile drapes. In addition, the room has small world and construction, mark making and painting and a digging area which varies from soil and sand to porridge oats - there's a whole world for them to explore, before moving up to Ladybirds!

Ladybord room (2-3 years)

Indoor and outdoor learning

The Butterfly room has access directly to their outdoor learning environment, this is used daily and provides additional learning opportunities including mark making, water play, sensory activities and large scale construction to develop gross motor skills. 


The children’s individual interests are followed using "in-the-moment planning"; key persons know the children well to enable them to provide individual learning opportunities throughout the day.
