Caterpillars - our baby room

Our Caterpillar room provides a calm and relaxed environment for our youngest children (up to 20 months). Caring practitioners provide care that meets the individual needs of each child, through both their routine and development. 

Care for babies up to 20 months

The Caterpillar room has soft furnishings and lighting to provide a home from home environment. Children can choose to rest or play at any time, dream coracles and soft cushions are available for them to snuggle into when they want some quiet time as well as our cosy book corner complete with a variety of sensory resources. A variety of indoor areas are easily accessible including a sandpit, home corner, small world and construction and music and singing.

Indoor and outdoor learning

The outdoor learning environment plays an important part of each day for all our children from the very start of their journey. The outdoor area includes a large sandpit with kitchen, playdough station, water play, music, small world as well as planters with plants and flowers and Lulu our pet rabbit. The outdoor area is shared with the Butterfly room.


In addition, the room has a nappy changing area and dining area. Diary books are completed each day, detailing meals, sleep times and nappy changes.
