Welcome to Honeybees

Honeybees - preparing for School

In the Honeybees room, the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is followed, this is play based. The opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills are incorporated in their everyday play and through routines e.g. mealtimes.

Learning, to grow

Children spend between 1.5 to 3 terms in the Honeybees room depending on when their birthday falls. Children are naturally more independent at this age and have begun to develop friendships. Through these friendships, a child’s learning takes on new dimensions as they collaborate and develop their thinking skills. This is when and how children develop deep-level learning, supported by knowledgeable practitioners who follow their individual interests to provide opportunities that build on their knowledge to extend it further.

Active play

The Honeybees room has two outdoor learning environments directly accessed from the room, one has a large climbing frame and large-scale construction e.g. tyres, crates, planks of wood. The second area has a playdough station, woodwork area, potion making, painting, small world and a sandpit inside a caravan!

The ‘Schools Out’ club is part of the Honeybees room. This provides before and after school care in addition to school holidays for children up to the end of year six.
