Ladybirds

Our Ladybirds Room

Ladybirds - 2-3 years

Our Ladybird room provides a caring environment to extend the skills the children are naturally developing to become independent learners. Sensitive practitioners support the children to engage in their learning by following the child’s interests. As their social skills are developing, the children begin to form friendships with their peers which enhance their independence skills as they begin to work collaboratively together.

Developing skills in Ladybirds

Many self-care skills are mastered whilst in the Ladybird room, this includes using a knife and fork, toilet training, washing and drying hands. These are very important skills for them to have before they transition to the Dragonflies room.

Outdoor play

The Ladybird room has access directly to their outdoor learning environment, this is used daily and provides additional learning opportunities including playdough, water and sand play, a music area and large-scale construction to develop gross motor skills as well as flower beds and hanging baskets that the children care for.
